Remember all the prophecies of "Doom and Gloom" for American forces that were spewing from a Russian website purporting to have intelligence sources in the Kremlin? Last week, President Putin expressed his displeasure over his defense officials' faulty forecasting regarding the U.S.-led military operation in Iraq. He was apparently that the campaign would take three to six months, with the Iraqi military resisting vigorously. One unidentified military intelligence officer had told the press that coalition loses in taking the city would amount to about 5,000 killed, while as many as half a million Iraqis could lose their lives in the operation. 

Then coalition forces captured Baghdad.
