Drug smugglers along the Afghan border are becoming active again, with several clashes in the last few days leaving three policemen and fifteen smugglers dead. During 2001, nearly 80 tons of drugs were seized on the eastern borders. Most of the stuff was opium, but also included hashish, morphine and opium (all derived from poppies.)
